Reconstitution basics for laboratory work

Diluent choice, technique and aliquoting — the small habits that remove most run-to-run variation.

4 min read · Nov 6, 2026

Most avoidable variation in peptide work comes from handling, not from the material.

Technique

Let the vial reach room temperature, add diluent slowly against the glass, and swirl. Shaking drives peptide to the air–liquid interface where it denatures.

Aliquot once

Divide the working solution into single-use volumes and freeze. Repeated freeze–thaw is the single most common cause of potency loss.

Watch adsorption

Acylated sequences stick to glass and plastic at low concentration. Low-bind consumables help.
