BPC-157 and TB-500: two different mechanisms

They're often grouped together, but the sequences, masses and studied mechanisms are entirely different.

5 min read · Nov 6, 2026

BPC-157 is a 15-residue synthetic sequence associated in published in-vitro work with fibroblast migration and nitric-oxide signalling. TB-500 is the acetylated actin-binding fragment of thymosin beta-4, studied for G-actin sequestration.

Why it matters

Different mechanisms mean different assay readouts. Different masses mean MS easily distinguishes them — and should be on every certificate.

Fragment vs parent

TB-500 is not full-length thymosin beta-4. The 43-residue parent protein is supplied separately.
